Sarah Nichols

School Director

Mrs.Sarah has been with Fairbanks Montessori School as the Executive Director since Fall 2018. She first discovered FMS as her first borns son's first scholastic experience 3 years ago. It was then the spark of the amazing world of Montessori Education began. She holds a degree in Theater from Texas A&M University and also a Teaching Certificate for Middle Grades from the state of Florida. Since moving to Alaska in 2012, she worked as the Director of the Boys & Girls Club of the Tanana Valley for three years and then became a stay at home mom when her second son was born. Her and her husband own and operate Fairbanks Nissan. Mrs.Sarah is very excited to continue her education by working on Early Childhood Education and Montessori Education classes and continuing to grow the community of Fairbanks Montessori School.


Debbie Potter

Office Administrator

Mrs.Debbie has been with us for 11 months, she previously owned her own in home care center for 24 years, is a free spirit and loves to makes people laugh.

Riley Laws

Fundraising and Event Coordinator/ School wide Assistant

Mrs.Riley has been with us for a little over a year, has previously taught both preschool and toddler classes and has over 4 years of working with Girl Scouts of America. Mrs.Laws has a background in art and loves being outdoors and spending time with her family.


Ms. Evonne

Raven’s Nest Lead Teacher

Ms.Evonne has been with us for 5 years and has a BA in Early Childhood Education. Ms.Evonne lived in Japan for 6 years, where she attended a Japanese PreSchool.


Shania Perkins

Raven’s Nest AM Assistant

Ms.Shania has been with us since July of 2018, she is currently working on her degree in Psychology including developmental studies. In her spare time Ms.Shania loves to travel.


Andrea Hagen

Raven’s Nest PM Assistant

Mrs. Andrea has been with us for a year, has over five years of childcare experience. Mrs. Hagen enjoys hiking, reading and doing makeup.


Sra. Chio

Casa Del Niño Lead Teacher

Mrs.Chio has been with us for 20 years! She has a business background and has a Primary Montessori Certification. Mrs.Chio enjoys collecting heart shaped rocks and loves everything pumpkin flavored.

Ms. Keaton

The Orca Pod Lead Teacher

Ms.Keaton has been with us for 4 years and has a B.A. in Anthropology and is Montessori certified for ages 3 to 6 years old. Ms.Keaton is a middle child out of 7 brother and sisters.

Mrs. Hanneman

Mrs.Hanneman has been with us for 17 years, she has a BS in Elementary Education and has her AMI Montessori Primary Diploma. Mrs.Hanneman moved to Alaska only expecting to live here temporarily for a year and has now lived here for over 25 years.

Ms.Chelsea has been with us for 3 years and has been working in a school setting since 2005. She is the youngest of 10 kids, with 6 sisters and 3 brothers.

Jordan Twitchell

The Cub’s Den AM Assistant

Mrs.Jordan has been with us for 2 and half years and has a Bachelors in Early Childhood Development and Education combined with Early Childhood Special Education and is currently working towards her Montessori certification. Mrs.Jordan’s first job in Fairbanks was working on the Trails Crew in Denali National Park working on the Savage Alpine Trail.
