Fall Semester 2026 Highlight
We will host an on-site accreditation team from the International Montessori Council in Spring 2027. Read about IMC accreditation here. Special thanks to our many mentors at IMC and the Center for Guided Montessori Studies for guidance and support on our accreditation journey.
Our school offers a fully implemented Montessori primary (for students ages 3-6) curriculum taught by certified Montessori Lead Teachers.
We have a rich history of providing early education the Interior, and many of our alumni live and work here - serving the community as physicians, pilots, attorneys, teachers, and building strong Alaskan families as parents.
Since 2008, we have been licensed* by the State of Alaska to educate and care for 3-6 year olds. Our doors opened in 1965, and we’re grateful to our families and our community for their continued support.

Fairbanks Montessori is a member of the International Montessori Council, and a candidate for IMC accreditation. As of March 2026, we have completed our committee work on Standard 1 (of the five accreditation standards), and we hope to host the IMC onsite accreditation team in 2027.

Staffing: our staff to student ratio is 1 staff member to 10 students
Training: staff meet State requirements, and develop professionally with Montessori training
Safety: we follow licensing requirements for the safety of our preschool environment
Regulated: our program is subject to (annual) scheduled and unscheduled inspections
Eligible for student funding: FMS is able to accept tuition assistance for qualified students.
Fairbanks Montessori currently accepts several tuition assistance programs, including those available through the State of Alaska’s Child Care Program Office, the US Military’s Child Care Aware of America Program, Tanana Chiefs Conference, and the National Park Service.
